2nd May 2008 18:15 smtp mail issue -
Due to an issue with our local nameservers, outgoing mail has been delayed for recipient servers that require reverse dns to be in place. This problem has now been resolved and the queued mail should be delivered shortly. We apologise to affected custoemrs for this problem.
1st Apr 2008 10:08 Old control panel -
We will be taking our old control panel offline today and redirecting all traffic to the new panel at https://admin.ukservers.net/
Currently the new control panel doesn't have a link to webmail, we have two webmail systems:

22nd Oct 2007 11:07 Atmail address book bug -
We have found a problem with the new version of Atmail we are running at https://atmail.ukservers.net, in that it doesn't properly support addressbook contact names containing apostrophes. We have contacted the vendor for this and hope to have the problem fixed farily soon. Until then we recommend not entering apostrophes in contact name.
20th Oct 2007 12:41 secure-uk.net -
As part of our plan to improve SSL support we have moved secure-uk.net to a new system and as a consequence access to webmail using this URL is now no longer available. Please use https://webmail.ukservers.net/ or https://atmail.ukservers.net/ - these urls are also available using http:// for unsecure access.
2nd Oct 2007 10:25 Massive bandwidth increase! -
We are very pleased to announce that the bandwidth available for all low cost hosting has been doubled. Our basic account now allows for 5 GBytes per month, and the standard account 15GBytes per month, other accounts have also been increased.
19th Sep 2007 php4 support -
The PHP Group are planning to discontinue support for PHP 4 on December 31st 2007, which means that after this date there will be no more security updates. This is part of their push to get everyone using PHP5. At some point soon after this we will be discontinuing support for PHP4, the first stage of which will be to switch apache module mode on our servers to use PHP5 instead of PHP4, PHP4 fastcgi mode will remain available for a while after this.
At this stage we recommend that users using PHP scripts check with their vendor that their scripts are compatible with PHP5, and if not, put pressure on them to release a PHP5 compatible version. We will announce further details in the next month or so.
4th Sep 2007 14:44 Change to PHP session.use_trans_sid -
We are changing the global setting for session.use_trans_sid from On to Off across our webservers over the next few days. This only affects sites that use sessions in PHP and want to support users who don't enable cookies. Unfortunately it is also a fairly serious security hole and has been disabled by default in PHP for some time. It can also cause issues with search engines as the session ID can get stored with the site URL. All of our newer servers have this option turned off by default, and we are just changing the setting on older servers to bring them inline with new machines.
If any customers have problems after this has been changed, please let us know and we will do what we can to help you work around this.
24th Aug 2007 15:17 Problem with mail server certificates -
A number of users have had problems with the new Geotrust certificate we have installed for mail.ukservers.net. Unfortunately not all mail clients have the root certificate installed for Equifax/Geotrust and this is needed in order to not get 'trust issues' when connecting securely to mail.ukservers.net. The root certificate can be found here: http://www.geotrust.com/resources/root_certificates/index.asp
The certificate you need is the first one called Root 1 - Equifax Secure Certificate Authority. To install, download this and then follow the instructions that come with your mail client regarding installing root certificates.
8th Aug 2007 15:01 Spam filtering increased effectiveness -
We have increased the effectiveness of the spam filtering system by adding the SaneSecurity ClamAV Phishing and Scam signatures. This also blocks much of the PDF spam that has recently become so prevalent. We are keeping an eye on this to ensure there are no false positives, but the results so far are very encouraging. We recommend that all customers set up a Quarantine mailbox for their spam filtering if they are at all worried about important mail being blocked by the spam filter.
12th Mar 2007 08:43 Please renew .EU domains ahead of expiry -
Due to differences in the way the top level registry for .EU names work, we are required to delete unwanted names on the day they expire. Therefore, customers must renew their .eu names ahead of expiry if they want to keep them. Normally customers get some time after expiry to renew their domain names, but this will not be the case for .EU names!
Please ensure you renew your .EU names as soon as possible to remove any risk of domain deletion.
